The Castries City Council is the body charged with the overall maintenance and upkeep of the city. Through this website, we seek to provide you with information about our city and the range of services provided by the  Council. Castries is a city rich in history and culture. From its early status as a refuge for sailors particularly the English and French military, as well as a major port for the exportation of charcoal, the city has grown into ultra-modern centre for business and government. Tourism and retail is now the major commercial activity in the city with an expanded port capable of holding up to 5 large cruise ships simultaneously.

Visitors to the city have a variety of interesting things to see and places to visit. Among the most popular are Morne Fortune, Derek Walcott Square (formerly Columbus Square) and the Castries Market.
